Chemotherapy and Recovery

I was very stiff and sore for several days. I wasn't able to lift anything and had trouble getting in and out of bed and going up and down stairs. I did have a prescription for pain killers. I only took them for a few days though since they were very weak and didn't seem to actually do anything.

A few weeks later I went in and had a chemotherapy session (1 dose of Carboplatin). I only had one and it was very mild. It wasn't comfortable but I kept my hair and didn't get sick. The only side effect was "chemobrain." Basically what that means is I got stupid. I couldn't keep a train of thought and got very forgetful. The issue went away in a few weeks after my therapy.

In October I went back to work and went to my first National Guard weekend drill. I was still very sore and not very limber but I was able to get around and get stuff accomplished.

All in all I think the recovery was much easier then I expected and I currently have a clean bill of health. I go in for checkups, x-rays and CT scans every six months. I have to do medical checkups for the cancer follow-up for five years.

I also am fully functional sexually. My testosterone is in the normal range but on the low end. I don't feel the urge to have sex as often as I used to but everything works like it did before. I have noticed that there seems to be a smaller amount of ejaculate but it isn't an issue.
